A Float Plan is a precise outline of a vessel's intended voyage, including information about the vessel, the crew, the destinations, times and other important information. This information is given to a responsible party, who is in charge of notifying the proper authorities, should your vessel and crew not return as scheduled. The idea is, a search can be conducted soon after you are deemed late. The information included in the float plan gives searchers as much information as possible as to what they are looking for and a possible starting point.

Keep in mind, once you file a Float Plan with this office, you will also have to check in to cancel it when your cruise is done. You are also responsible to call us, should your itinerary or expected arrival time change, so that we do not begin an unnecessary search for you or look in the wrong area.
